♥ My Entry For a Faber Castell Contest

18 januari 2018 by Delinlea Leave a Comment

Hey lovelies!

So in november Faber Castell announced on their social media (link) that they were gonna hold a contest for their limited edition Albrecht Dürer cup. Albrecht Dürer is their watercolor pencil line. I own a set of 12, but I never truely used them, the way they are supposed to be used haha. So I got excited, cause you had to use those pencils for this contest.

♥ Under Water

The theme was ‘Under Water’ and you had to use those watercolor pencils for you entry. To show, in your work, what you can archieve with those pencils. This was gonna be a challenge for me. 1. I had never used the pencils with water, 2. I hate watercolors cause my paper never stays flat *frustration here*.

Well with theme I can go, I love the water life etc. It’s always so pretty! I really needed to come up with a deasign. It gave me more trouble as I thought. Maybe also because of the situation at home. There was not a lot of room for staying in the brainstorm fase tho, because the deadline was december 18. (great timing Faber Castell >_< in the busiest time of the year you set a deadline for a contest yay).

In the end I stayed true to myself and came up with an idea that I love the most, dragons, waterdragons with corals, dolphins and sea slugs. Now all I had to do, is get the right paper, I had tried different papers with watercolors so far. Those weren’t my fav at all.. so I did go to my fav store and asked there for advice… well… to be honest, I’m still not very happy with the paper. Enough rambling about that, I probably will never find the paper to my likings xD maybe if it is really thick..but they didn’t had that at the store I go to.

♥ The Painting

My progress was very slow in the beginning. I couldn’t concentrate much. AND in the midst of my Chirstmas Countdown… what was I doing to myself ORZ. But in the end I finished 2 drawing/paintings (You needed to download a template so you knew how big the drawings needed to be). I got my work in just minutes before the deadline. Later I found out, I forgot to add certain things, small, but still details that are missing. Maybe I should add them still.. hmm. Here is what I made for this contest:

Now it’s January and the winner is announced. I already knew I didn’t got through to the next round. (if you didn’t got an email by dec 22, you didn’t make it) Too bad tho, cause I love how my entry looks, but I could understand it wasn’t a winning piece. I should have sticked with the plan to keep a lot of white in the drawing. Oh well, nothing to do about it anymore! I still learned a lot by making this piece of art. I know how to use those watercolor pencils now. I might use them more in the future if I feel to. Let’s find out.

I edited my painting on the pictures Faber Castell used. xD Just to see how mine would look like. I love it, what do you think?!
Have a beautiful day everyone!

Love
Danielle

♥ Beaded Baby Dragons

11 januari 2018 by Delinlea Leave a Comment

Hey Lovelies!

How’s the new year going so far?! Sticking to your new years resolutions or did you already stopped with them?! haha I’m sticking to them so far. Some are quit challenging to keep doing, but I am trying. And that’s the only thing you can do, right?!

So for today I decided to dust off an old craft I loved to make. Bead work as in Perlentiere as in Gegenfädeltechnik. You probably don’t understand what I mean at all, but if you see what you can make, I’m sure you will get excited! It’s making a 3D figure with seed beads and wire. It looks hard at the beginning, but as soon as you know how to do it, it’s fun!

For this DIY you’ll need:
♥ Wire (o.3mm)
♥ Seedbeads in at least 3 colors.
♥ Ruler.
♥ Something to cut your wire with.

Since I love to make Dragons I’d go with dragons for today. The pattern is not mine! But free for personal use. Here you can find the pattern. (The pattern is by Christiane Brüning – www.perlentiere.com). Perlentiere.com is one of the biggest resouces if it comes to the gegenfädeltechnik, I love that website.

When you open the pattern you will see a flat thingy. How does this work?! Well, you always see two rows of dots and then a line. The first row of dots goes on the up side of your project, in this case a dragon, the second row will go under. Every line makes it easier to see which row goes where, up or under.
Now measure the wire, for the body you need about 1meter. Fold it in half (don’t make a hard fold though, just slightly), so you know where the middle is. For row 1 just put the required number of beads on and let them slide to the middle. Put the number of beads for row 2 on one end of the wire and hold them, put the other end of the wire through the opposite of the beads, so you cross your wire inside the beads. Now pull tight until you reach the beads in the middle. Put on the required number of beads for row 3, hold, cross wires and pull tight again, make sure they are on the upside of your work now. Keep doing this according the pattern. Make sure you add the wires for the legs and wings while you go. They are show with colored lines through the dots. If you try to do this when the body is ready, you’ll be in trouble. (wire for the legs is about 20cm each, and for the wings is about 40cm each).
If you are clueless right now, which I can totally imagine, go check out this link.

For the wings you see a row of dots and then a line etc. This means that the thing you are working on is going to stay flat. No up or under rows. All the rows go nicely after each other.

I hope you kinda understand this project, and that you will have fun making these! If not, let me know and I will try to help you out. ^-^

I decided to try to update my blog every thursday. I have to get used to do that though. But I will try, if there is anything you wanna see me post about let me know in the comments below, suggestions are always welcome!

Love
Danielle

I hope you survived all the holidays and that you are ready for a new year. Did you also make some new years resolutions?! And do you think you are going to stick to them?! Tell me in the comments below!
Here are mine, Which I wrote in my Bujo. I have had a Bujo last year as well and I really wanna stick to it. It does help me to get organized (no more lost lists! yay!) And I actually get stuff done. So, that’s a really good thing. Let’s hope I can stick to my new years resolutions as well. There are a lot things I wanted to do for a while now. I just need to kick myself and get them done, start with them or however. I can do this!

Have an awesome new year everyone!

2 december 2017 by Delinlea Leave a Comment

Hey Lovelies!

Edit: Contest deadline extended!

So today is a little bit different from all the other DIYs I have planned. It doesn’t involve any Disney characters, but Dragons, baby Dragons! I just couldn’t do a Christmas countdown without any dragon, I love them to much for that.
Also if you join this one, you can win some prizes! Are you getting excited already?!

Okay, so, it’s coloring contest time! I have drawn this baby dragon Christmas tree, and it’s up to you how you color it. You can use anything you want, colored pencils, markers, glitter, flowers..well anything xD let the creative juices flow~. (You can color it digitally, but I prefer the traditional way, just saying xD). Just download your PDF or JPEG from this link, and print it out on the paper you prefer, and start!

Dragon Christmas Tree

There will be one winner. But maybe if there are a lot of people joining, I’ll extend that to 3. Now to the question that’s in your mind, yes, I know it’s there. (secretly I can read minds xD)

What can you win?!
♥  A Crochet Baby Dragon, made by me.
♥  4 Mechanical pencils HB.
♥  24 Mini gelpens.

♥  Pretty colored paper.

I hope you like those prizes. ^-^
