♥ Paper Quilled Egg

12 maart 2020 by Delinlea Leave a Comment

Hey Lovelies! I hope you are doing well with all the virus stuff going on! It’s getting pretty critical here in the Netherlands, but it doesn’t bother me much. Since I can craft all day, every day, I have no time to be bored! xD. For today’s blog I found my quilling stuff back, it’s been ages since I used it, but it’s paper, and anything paper, I love. Not sure why xD just a little obsession I guess. I will explain to you how to make a 3D quilled egg, which works awesome for easter! I hope you will enjoy this tutorial!

Paper Quilled Egg

For this DIY you’ll need:
♥ 5 Purple Strokes of 3mm by 7cm.
♥ 25 Pink Strokes of 3mm by 10,5cm.
♥ Green Strokes of 3mm by 10,5cm, as many as you want.
♥ Quilling Tools, but you can use alternatives, in the past I never used quilling tools.
♥ Glue.
♥ Styrofoam Egg, about 4cm in height. (You can use larger, but then you’ll need more of the other supplies as well).
♥ Tweezers. (optional)
♥  (Sewing) Pins.

Tutorial Paper Quilled Egg

If you don’t know what Quilling or paper Quilled things are, I suggest you to look some up! It’s really fun!

Rolling the Papers

Start with rolling up all the paper strokes. The Purple ones you just keep them as is and use some glue at the end of the stroke to keep it from unwinding.

The Greens and Pinks you’ll let them expand to a width of 8mm. I had a quilling board with different size circles, which made it really easy to get the right size every time. As for those as well, glue the end of the stroke so it won’t unwind any further.

Shaping

The pink ones you pinch at one side. The Green at two sides.  See the image below to see the shapes they need to have. Continue this for all the pinks and greens.

Making the Egg

Now you need the Styrofoam egg, you need to decide now if you wanna leave the egg in or that you wanna be able to remove it. If you wanna remove it, like I did, make sure you won’t glue the pieces to the egg.

Start off with drawing a line on the egg, as you can see in the picture, my egg already had a line from the making process. Divide this line in 3 even parts. Take the 5 purple parts and add those with a pin. so 3 on the line, 1 on top and 1 on the bottom.

Around the Purple parts, glue 5 Pink parts, so you will create some kind of flowers. Use pins to keep all parts in place until it’s dry.

Lastly, in between the flowers you just made, add the green parts. They will be the leaves. Those you can glue however you want, but you want to connect all flowers together. If you won’t connect everthing, it will fall apart, and that’s not what you want. (If you decided to keep the egg in the inside, it doesn’t matter if it’s connected or not).
However, in order to be able to remove the egg, don’t use glue around the line from earlier. This way you’ll have a upper and lower half which you will glue together after removing the egg. Make sure to make some marks to which part goes where, or the shape will be lost.

Before you remove the egg though, make sure everything has dried well and is hard enough to hold its shape. So glue’s take 24hours to be completely hardened.

You could add a piece of thread to the top of the egg to be able to hang it as decoration!

I hope you liked this Quilled Paper Egg tutorial! It’s fun to do something else a crocheting all the time xD. It’s funny, that before I figured out how to crochet, I only used paper to create things. Now I barely use paper, while I have a huge stack  *Hides

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Love
Danielle

♥ Cosy Bookmark

7 november 2019 by Delinlea Leave a Comment

Hey Lovelies! Since these days are getting colder, I love to burry myself into a pile of blankets, put on some candles and just read a good book. Most people probably wanna do so, just relaxing. So that’s why I came up with this cute bookmark, we can never have enough, right?!

For this DIY you’ll need:
♥ This Template.
♥ Scrapbooking paper in color/patterns of choise.
♥ Pencil.
♥ Eraser.
♥ Scissors or X-Acto Knive & Cutting Board.
♥ Glue.
♥ Fineliner.
♥ Printer (optional, you can trace the pattern from your screen as well).

DIY

Print out (or trace) the template from here and cut all parts those out.

Trace all these parts to the paper of choise. All parts are suppose to be cut out only once, except for the heart, you can make as many as you desire. I’ve done 5 hearts. When you are done tracing, cut them all out.

When you’ve done all that, you can glue everything together, I always make an arrangement first to see what I like, and then glue it together.

This step is optional, but a cute addition, write a word of choise on the cup. I chose for ‘Relax’, but it can be anyhting or nothing at all.

And it’s finished already, although you could laminate it for extra protection. I didn’t since, if this one is ugly, I can make a new one xD.

Have a wonderful day~.

Love
Danielle

♥ Drawing Lesson 4; Paper

15 augustus 2019 by Delinlea Leave a Comment

Hey Lovelies! It’s drawing lesson time! Today, I wanted to talk about paper. Some people say it’s not important and use printer paper. But in fact it is very important. Maybe not when you’re just starting out, but when you’re gonna start drawing more professional, you might consider using better quality paper.

Acid Free

Acid free?! Why?! I hear you thinking, but it is one of the most important things to check if you buy paper. It has to do with the life time of your paper, how long it will last. If there is Acid in your paper, it’s most likely gonna affect the paper itself, it can turn yellow over time and becomes brittle. This goes even faster when it is exposed to light and or heat.
When your paper is acid free, you or others are able to preserve it longer. This makes the risk of damage to your artwork less. And if you are a professional artist, this is one of the things you want!

Texture

There’s a lot of paper to choose from. It’s very personal to what the outcome of the final artwork will be.
Texture is also often called the tooth of the paper. It can be very smooth with almost no tooth. This will hold less layers of, for example, colored pencil. But smooth paper also gives a smooth result.
You’ve also heafy textured paper, you can feel all the bumps in there. This is usually considered that it will hold a lot of layers.
Ofcourse there are many variations in between. It all comes down to taste, what is the result of your artwork that you are aiming for? Do you like to layer a lot? Or not at all? Also, what medium works well on those papers?! It’s totally up to you, what one artist likes, doesn’t mean you have to like it as well. Often, over time, your preference change. That’s good, that means you are growing, wanna try other things.

Below some close up’s of Paper I use.

What type of paper

There are so many papers to choose from, it’s sometimes hard to make a decision. But it already helps if you know what you wanna do with the paper before buying, do you wanna use if for graphite or colored pencil, for soft pastel or mixed media, watercolors maybe. On all papers it is stated where you can use it for, this makes you range already smaller.
It’s also helpfull to check what other artists use and how their result is on that particulair paper. This gives you an idea of how the paper acts. Though, keep in mind that your technic may be different so your result might be different as well. It all comes down to testing. Often at stores you can get test sheets of the paper, so you can feel it, draw on it. See if it is something for you.

Personal

In the end, paper is a very personal preference. For example, when I just started out with pastel, I bought canson mi teintes paper, since a lot of people I followed were using that as well. It was so frustrating for me to work on that and stopped trying with pastel. Even tho I did invest in a lot of materials. After some time I came around some different paper for pastel and tried that one, but that wasn’t my thing either. After a lot of time past I got my hands on pastelmat. This was the solution to my problems, it wasn’t my technic, it was the paper. I am able to have fun with pastel now.

This shows, what works for someone else, doesn’t have to work for you. Just keep trying and not giving up. You will find what fits your style!

I hope this blog is a bit helpful, and helps you with your art journey! It’s fun, give everything a try, and ask your supplier for sample’s, you don’t always have to buy to try paper out! If you have more questions, I am always willing to help you out!

8 november 2018 by Delinlea Leave a Comment

Hey Lovelies! Today no new tutorial or DIY, wel not for me at least, it’s a repost from my old website. Today I wanna give you the 3D Origami pattern of Matoki’s. These are the alien of B.A.P a Korean boyband.

I am so busy that I have barely time to breath, so I throw this one in quickly~! I hope you will enjoy it anyway!  If you don’t know how you have to do 3DO, just google search it, there’s plenty of tutorials to be found out there, plenty of videos as wel.

Next week I will repost the last 3DO pattern from my old website, so I can delete that one. It has no use anymore.

After that week, I can hopefully create new content for you! Please bear with me for a while.

Love
Danielle
